Princess Christian's Hospital for Officers opened in March 1916 with 35 beds.  It was affiliated to Queen Alexandra's Military Hospital in Millbank.

It closed in March 1919.


This building is recorded as having been used as an auxiliary military hospital during WW1.  No further details have (as yet) come to light.

Present status (May 2010)

In 1919 the building became the Forum Club, a club solely for women, with 1,600 members, many connected to the Women's Institute movement.  The Club also offered accommodation for members' personal maids.  It survived until the 1940s.

Currently the building appears empty and boarded up.

The entrance to the building appears boarded-up (left).  To the left of the doorway is a blue plaque (right)  commemorating that the building was once the home of Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman, who was Prime Minister from 1905 to 1908.
