The Post Office Home Hospital
opened
in 1916 in part of a house lent by Major and the Hon. Mrs Edward Marten
Dunne. It
had 30 beds for servicemen and was affiliated to the Fourth London General Hospital. (Major
Dunne remained in residence throughout the war).
An annexe with 9 beds was established at 16 Derby Road, Bournemouth. The Hospital presumably closed in 1919. Present status (June 2010) The Grade II listed property is currently owned by the Sultan of Brunei. |
