In 1917, when Andrew Bonar Law
(1858-1923) was appointed as Chancellor of the Exchequer and moved to
No. 11 Downing Street, his home, Pembroke Lodge, was loaned to the
British Red Cross Society for use as a convalescent home for wounded
officers.
Pembroke Lodge Hospital for Officers presumably closed in 1918. Present status (November 2010) The house has been demolished and its site is now occupied by Pembroke Gardens Close. |
