The Home was founded by Dr. R.R.P. Garrow, the Medical Officer of Health for Hornsey, during WW2 in a private nursing home in Alexandra Park Road. Later it was acquired by the County Council and extended to contain 29 beds. It joined the NHS in 1948, under the control of the Archway Group Hospital Management Committee, part of the North West Metropolitan Regional Hospital Board. In 1967 the Home had 25 beds and was under the administration of the North London Group Hospital Management Committee. Negotiations began to transfer the Home to the Haringey Local Board, but instead it closed in 1972. |
